What this guide helps you do
This guide helps you connect a TAPPDATT device so guests can tap or scan and open the right page.
Estimated time: 2-5 minutes
Before you start
- You have access to your TappDatta dashboard.
- You already created the page guests should open.
- You have a TAPPDATT device available.
- The page is published, or you understand that draft pages are private and not yet visible.
What you'll need
- TAPPDATT device
- Dashboard access
- The page or landing page guests should open
- A phone to test the tap or scan
What is a TAPPDATT device?
A TAPPDATT device is a physical touchpoint guests interact with. It may be an NFC card, sticker, coaster, table sign, hotel placard, QR sign, or other tap or scan surface.
Connecting a device tells TappDatta which page should open when someone taps or scans.
Assigned means the device is connected to a page. Unassigned means it is not connected yet.
UID means the unique ID TappDatta uses to recognize a specific device. Check that the UID matches the physical item you are testing.
Step-by-step instructions
- Open Devices. Go to Dashboard - Devices. You should see a list of TAPPDATT devices.
- Find an available device. Look for a device marked Available or Unassigned.
- Open the device. Select the device row or choose Manage.
- Choose the page. In the page or landing page field, choose the page guests should open.
- Save the connection. Choose Save or Assign device.
- Check the status. The device should now show Assigned or a similar connected state.
- Test from a phone. Tap or scan the device. Confirm it opens the page you selected.
What success looks like
The device shows an assigned status, and your phone opens the intended page when you tap or scan.
Common mistakes
Common mistake: The device is connected to the wrong page.
Fix: Open the device, choose the correct page, save, and test again.
Common mistake: The page is still private.
Fix: Publish the page before asking guests to use the device.
Troubleshooting
- Wrong page opens: Check which page is assigned to the device, update it, save, and test again.
- Nothing opens: Try another phone, check that NFC or the camera scan works, and confirm the device has an assigned page.
- Page is private: Publish the page, then tap or scan again.
- Device says unassigned: Select the page it should open and save the assignment.
